DARPA Website Manager

This is a hybrid remote position with regular onsite support in Ballston, VA. A security clearance is required to perform this work. All applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Spire is a full-service communications firm supporting innovative programs in government, technology, healthcare, and science. We seek a full-time, highly skilled website manager for DARPA’s external-facing website.

A security clearance will be required. You do not have to hold a clearance to apply, but only U.S. citizens will be considered.

This is not an entry-level position. A minimum of five years’ experience managing websites required for consideration.

You would be responsible for providing direction for and coordinating architecture, design, development, and content for darpa.mil. You would work closely with and provide direction to guide the work of agency developers, web designers, and content creators. This is not a writing position, but expert understanding of digital content is a must, including navigation, taxonomy, content models, wireframes, and on-page SEO.

The role resides within the agency’s public affairs team, whose charge is to promote DARPA programs and achievements to the research and academic communities, partner agencies, lawmakers, and the public at large. Your contribution to this team would be to ensure the website represents DARPA as the military’s innovation engine and transformational change agent.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate agency communications requirements into technical requirements that elevate web architecture, design, and functionality in support of the mission.
  • Ensure development, design, and content milestones are delivered on time.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing to meet requirements and reflect brand standards.
  • Triage requests for redesign, development, and site architecture updates and initiate projects with appropriate technology or content teams as needed.
  • Conduct website audits and analysis to measure performance, relevance, and accessibility compliance, and recommend content, design, or development updates as needed.
  • Measure ongoing site performance with Google Analytics, providing the public affairs team with data insights and recommending site updates as needed.
  • Oversee search engine optimization (SEO) strategy and ensure efforts are consistently embedded as reflect the agency’s communications goals.

What You’ll Bring to Spire

  • 5-10 years of experience managing large public websites
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Eligibility for a Secret clearance
  • Deep understanding of the needs and goals of website users
  • Advanced knowledge of on-page SEO, including keyword research, meta descriptions, page titles and heading structure, URLs, internal linking, and image optimization
  • Advanced knowledge of Google Analytics and meaningful content metrics
  • Fluency in web design and development concepts and processes
  • Professional enthusiasm for and interest in UI/UX trends
  • Ability to learn and work within DARPA’s proprietary CMS
  • High-level organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong client orientation
  • Meticulous attention to detail and service quality mindset
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration skills
