Photographer for Military R&D

This position is on-site in Adelphi, MD and requires a Secret clearance.

Spire is a full-service communications firm supporting innovative programs in government, technology, healthcare, and science. We seek a full-time, highly skilled photographer with technical expertise in using digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras, editing software, and studio lighting.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience is required to apply, with the bulk of photography experience in a studio, marketing agency, or corporate communications department. This role will support senior staff at the Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, Md., and is an exceptional opportunity to capture compelling pictures of innovative, mission-driven work that receives national attention.

What You’ll Do

  • Produce high-quality, consistent image content, photo essays, and portraits
  • Provide creative vision, technical skills, and operational support to ARL
  • Propose the latest industry trends, new ideas, inspiration, and creativity to the work
  • Select, edit, and caption images
  • Achieve accurate and complete digital asset protocols for all files

What You’ll Bring to Spire

  • 5+ years of experience in professional photography, commercial art, and photojournalism
  • Background in a photography studio, marketing agency, or corporate communications department
  • Expertise in Capture One, InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Suite application
  • Experience managing large projects and art directing according to business and technical requirements
