A different kind of communications agency

Oversell, overcharge, and under-deliver. Among the complaints commonly levelled against the PR and marketing industry, that’s the trifecta.

The typical client experience goes like this: A tiger team of VP-level account directors delivers a strong pitch with compelling visuals and big promises. Then, after the project kicks off, you wind up working with a team of energetic but inexperienced junior staffers.

The agency presents this approach as a cost savings. But while the bill rates may be lower, the client’s budget gets eaten up in prolonged cycles to get the deliverables you really need.

When I started Spire nearly 20 years ago, I knew there was a better way.

Senior communicators only

Since our inception, Spire has only hired senior communicators.

In fact, our current team of PR pros, writers, designers, and videographers averages 19 years of experience in their field.

Why? Because the clients we support – federal agencies focused on health, technology, science, and defense, and the contractors who support them – serve missions that are vital to our nation.

To achieve those missions, their messages must break through some of the noisiest and most complicated markets there are. Their programs and services must reach businesses, other federal partners, Congress, and individual citizens.

To make that happen on deadline, they need a team with at least a decade of experience in their markets and key channels.

Industry-honed chops

Let’s face it, government communications has a pretty bad reputation. Many an agency still takes a “post it and they will come” approach to promoting their content. It doesn’t work.

In the algorithm-driven attention economy, an informational website just isn’t enough. The success of federal missions is too important for this kind of old school thinking. Government must shift from passive to proactive.

To serve as the thought partner our clients need, Spire teams bring skills and know-how honed in industry. Our team of communicators come from Fortune 500 consulting firms, global technology contractors, scientific associations, and innovation startups.

Drawing on their varied experience, our teams can quickly assess the PR and marketing landscape, make recommendations, and execute with the skill and agility expected of seasoned pros. We know how to create the message and deliverables that federal organizations need. More importantly, we know how to deliver that message directly into the hands of the stakeholders our clients are trying to reach.

We believe in a proactive content marketing strategy – born from decades of experience in industry – to promote the important work of government.

The result: Smart, effective campaigns that get it right the first time.

As an added bonus, our staff members also benefit from the satisfaction of a job well done, work that truly matters, and the strong collaborative partnerships they develop over time.

Expecting more for taxpayer dollars

I’ll be the first to admit that Spire’s strategy is actually pretty simple. But based on the feedback we get, it’s also pretty rare.

From my perspective, the missions our clients are charged with are far too important for anything less than the very best. Want proof? See what we’ve delivered for a handful of our clients.
