Senior Marketing Copywriter, Science & Technology

The position is remote hybrid, with periodic onsite work in the Washington, DC area.

Spire is a full-service communications firm supporting innovative programs in government, technology, healthcare, and science. We seek a full-time content creator with 7-10 years of experience writing about engineering, R&D, or applied sciences to join our team of communicators.

Versatility and initiative are key to success in this role. This writer will support a broad range of clients, including some of the most innovative federal agencies and government contractors in the country. Assignments will include blogs and bylines, web copy, white papers infographics, video storyboards and scripts, presentations, marketing collateral, and more.

We need an exceptional wordsmith capable of serving as a strategic thought partner to help clients develop and articulate powerful messages that engage, educate, and persuade. We also need a solid copy editor to review and proofread the work of colleagues and clients. Knowledge of AP Style a major plus.

Please respond only if you possess a minimum of 7 years’ experience in science or technology writing. Marketing agency experience is a plus.

What You’ll Do

  • Write clear, grammatically correct, and purpose-fit copy of all kinds
  • Work with a wide variety of source materials, including SME interviews, technical articles, and presentations
  • Coordinate client reviews and incorporate feedback
  • Serve as first reviewer and/or proofreader in support of other Spire writers
  • Collaborate closely with design colleagues on visual concepts and graphics
  • Manage content deadlines
  • Actively track and communicate status
  • Represent Spire to clients as a reliable, responsive professional

What You’ll Bring to Spire

  • 7-10 years of communications experience with a focus on content creation
  • Experience writing about highly technical and scientific information
  • Ability to adapt your writing to the style and tone required for the audience and/or channel
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivation, task organization, and time management
  • Proven resourcefulness
  • Ability to serve in an account director role
